All motor gsr. Help with choosing parts????
Car:
98 civic hx full interior.
engine:
jdm b18c from hmotorsonline.com (thanks guys motor runs great)
Mods:
type r header
short ram intake(ebay special)
2.5 exhuast
streetlite flywheel (11lbs I believe)
lightweight crank pulley
I want to get cams. Their is a lot more than meets the eye when getting cams. Like I know I will need cam gears, and springs valves and retainers(want to get skunk 2 stage 2 cams). To really make the horsepower out of those cams am I going to need different pistons to make the compression higher? If so what pisions work well with skunk 2 stage 2 cams? If I get pistons do I need to get rods, sleeves, deck gaurd or anything else in that nature? Oh and before we get to far, I wanna have just a 50 shot of the juice. Also I will have a fpr installed.
On to electronics, I don't have much of clue in this department so bear with me. Will I need a sport compact igtion and hondata and all that? I barely know what hondata is nor how to use/install it. I plan to get my ecu chipped so that takes care of that. Pretty much what I want to know is if I get skunk 2 stage 2 cams what other parts will I need to benefit totally from these cams? I want to have all the angles covered because this will be a daily driver so reliablity is one of my top concerns. If you can help me with brands of pistons, valves, etc. that would be great too. I know some of you are going to say, "Well you could have searched and found that answer to that question". I have searched and searched, and I just can't find a good build sheet for exactly what I want. Well this already way to long so I'll leave it at that.
Thanks

you may want to choose a different cam, but if you are set on that cam, you can up the compression, its not necessary, but yes it will yield better results. If you up it, just hone the bores and get itr replacements for pistons and go with oem rings. I wouldnt worry about the rods or anything else since it is already worthy of holding the rpm's, but the biggest part of building a motor to really get what you want out of it is gonna be the tunning. The cam gears that I would go with and will go with are gonna be the fidanza cam gears primarily because they are made with a pass through bolt that pinches the two pieces of aluminum together rather than the bolt screwing into soft aluminum. They are just as expensive as any other cam gear and remember, dont take stupid gambles when building a motor, while you have it broken down, go ahead and replace the seals and gaskets. get a new timing belt while you are at it, it just doenst make any sense not to.
I could help you tons, but you've thrown in a variable that I have no experience with - nitrous. Everything I tell you may be inaccurate because I don't know how to properly build for nitrous.
there's tons and tons of parts we could list. what are your goals? daily driver or track car? but anyways look into these parts
-new clutch
-timing belt
-Rocket M22 cams/valvetrain
-usdm itr/p30 pistons
-wahlbro 255 fuel pump
just my .02 bro. good luck with your motor.

i have skunk 2 stage 2s and if you want a lot of top end power u should use those but also check into buddyclub 4's and toda B's both are great for mid-range and top end power also the buddyclub 4's have the same vtec lobe as the skunk 2 so it has a punch to it
