According to the Honda Factory Service Manual, it goes like this for cylinder head bolts:

"Tighten cylinder head bolts in two steps. In the first step tighten all bolts and nuts, in sequence, to about 30N/m (22 lb-ft); in the final step, tighten, in the same sequence, to 65N/m (47 lb-ft).

Here's the sequence:

8 6 2 4 10

9 3 1 5 7

That's standing at the front of the car, looking down at the cylinder head. The cam gear is nearest the #10 & #7 bolts; the distributor nearest the #8 & #9 bolts.

Good enough?

Mike

its similar to tires, but MUCH more important.

if fact, if you don't even TAKE IT OFF in that order, backing it up a quarter turn at a time, they almost always warp.

it is important to torque it down right because you need it to go on flat, you don't want to put more stress on one part, etc.

btw, you shouldnt reuse your old head bolts. you need the updated reusable head bolts from honda, or buy ARP replacements.

in case you didnt know, which i figure you didnt if you dont know the torque sequence.
