Default ABS ECU interchangability - 97 -> 98-01

anyone know of any difference between 97 ITR and 98+ ITR ABS ECU? I'd guess they would be interchangable, afaik ABS modulators are the same for all years ITR, changes for GSR at MY 98. Any additional info appreciated.

97 ITR ABS ECU pn 39790-ST7-A11
98-01 ITR ABS ECU pn 39790-ST7-A31

and for reference
97 GSR ABS ECU pn 39790-ST7-A02
98-01 GSR ABS ECU pn 39790-ST7-A21

alright, apparently 94-97 GSR/LS ABS ecu's were larger, and manufactured by NEC, the 98+ were smaller, and manufactured by nissin.

however, the 97 ITR ABS ECU is the newer variant, manufactured by nissin. So, does anyone know any differences between any of the newer nissin units? 97 ITR, 98+ITR, 98+GSR/LS??????

D

edit - 97 ITR ABS box got rid of all my ABS codes, however, i have yet been able to engage abs.

The 1997/1998 ECUs had different harness pinouts than the 2000+ ECUs. With an OBDIIa/b conversion harness, they are interchangable.

My only suggestion is to have some of the folks at Expo compare them since they'll likely be 97's and 98+ ITR's in abundance. I'm sure someone could snap some photos, see if the harnesses are identical, etc.

It's your own fault, you only said ABS once in the title and only 6 times in the body.

thanks... finally some good content here. apparently i'm also having problems with my TNA ECU........

just to rehash, i have the 97 ITR ABS brain in my 98 now, cleared up all my codes. and from the 97 ITR supplement, there appears to be 1 extra wire called out on the 97 ITR 22P orange connector, shrug, apparently a additional ground.... but it's also kinda called out in the 98 manual. (1 schematic, but not the pinout) shrug... whatever.

BTW... Len, if you see this..... can you check part interchange on the acura parts software... my copy doesn't give me the ability.
