catalytic converter replacement?
my catalytic converter has stopped up and i'm wondering what the alternatives to having a cat are. i'm not putting another one back on my car.
i was wondering if someone made a resonator that would directly replace the stock cat, without having to make flanges or have to weld on my exhaust.
in the mean while i'm just running a gutted cat.

well basically if you dont use a stock cat, your o2 sensor will kick the CEL.
depending on how they do emissions tests where you live, you wont have to worry or you can get a test pipe or a hi flow cat for around $100 and an o2 sensor simulator for $30 (see o2 sim install thread below).
most likely either way you go you will need to mod the sensor unless you go stock.
i dont think they make resonators that will fit in there without mods to exhaust system.

well that's not what i want to do.
i have OBD1 with hondata I don't need an o2 simulator
i just want something to keep the noise down

lemme rephrase. i've used a test pipe i don't like the way it sounds
i am not putting another cat on my car. period.
i'm looking for an alternative to quiet the car down a bit.

Megan racing makes a resonator that will bolt up. For some reason they call it a test pipe, but i have one and I can say that it is definately not a test pipe. Its a straight through design but it has those resonator baffles/holes in it. Heres a link so you can check it out http://meganracing.com/product...tid=3

Why would o2 sensor throw a code when its on the header in front of the cat/pipe?</TD></TR></TABLE>
obd2 has a sensor in the catalytic converter itself

They sell the same on ebay for 43 buck shipped
Megan Racing
Or a no name for 41$ shipped
no name
<U>But it's clearly state those thing are for racing / off road use only.
Just buy a real high flow cat and stop polluting the air
