2000 civic si OEM strut bar question
my question is it possible for me to fit a 2000 civic si oem strut bar on my dx 4dr? I currently have a aftermarket brand strut bar and the location of it is right on the strut tower where the 2 nuts holds the struts onto the chassis. After buying the si strut bar yesterday i noticed when i got home to put it on, that the si strut bar is a lil wider in length, and the mounting location sits next to the strut tower. i can see where the si strut bar would mount from the cars chassis' indention for where the bar can go. will drilling n wheel studs do the trick? thanks in advance

no luck on this guys, i went to honda n ordered my bolts n nuts for the strut bar. One problem, they say they can't order the bolts that i need to get the job done. But i do have the nuts to the bolts. If anyone has done this b4 please help me out n tell me what i need to do. thanks

Your intake might get in the way of the bar. But I put one on my 99 dx which has a y8 intake manifold swap. All I did was take a drill and drilled holes where the markings are on top of the towers. On my car it was on the outermost part of the marking where the strut bar lined up. Make sure you jack the front of the car up on jackstands. Put the bar where it's supposed to go and mark the placement of each hole. Drill through and there you're done. I went to the hardware store and got 12mm matching nuts and bolts and washers for under 2 bucks. Works like a charm. Seems to work better when the bolt goes through the hole from the bottom and the nut goes up top.
k kewl thanks bro, anyone else using honda's bolts? im just curious how a dealership can't order this when i can just go to a auto store n get it.

I believe on the Si the mounting bolts are welded or part of the chassis and can't be removed.

My apologies ek9 ferio.
I meant for you to just drill holes and use bolts and nuts to hold the bar on. I should have been more specific. What all these guys are saying is what I meant to tell you.
Good luck.

hey...what are you guys using to bolt the strut bar in?
I ask because I over torqued one of the studs in my engine bay. the stud/bolt that you tighten the strutbar to.
how can i replace it? like, what store are you getting the hardware from and how much?

just about any hardware store should have what you need to replace them
edit: unless you broke the stud/bolt at the top of the shock tower

I used nuts and bolts from Walmart (Stainless of course) You'll find that once you drill the holes you can stick the bolt up through the inner tire well and through the bar.
There should be prehole markers in your engine bay that show two little dots on each side of the struts. DONT use these as guidance for where to drill your 4 holes. They don't align for ****. FYI.
