Default My sanity in question

So a couple of the guys I autox with have asked me if I am committed or need to be committed.

Woke up 4AM Saturday... drove to Cumberland, MD some 2 hrs away from where I live. Came home around 6PM... watched a movie went to sleep and woke up 4AM Sunday and drove 2.5 hrs to Southern WV for an event. Came home at 6PM... ate... went to sleep... came into work at 6AM Monday.

Damn this addiction... its worse than cigarettes, drugs and alcohol.

You're asking a bunch of guys, with the same problem, whether you're insane or not?????

if you're only driving 2.5 hours for a one-day event you're not that bad...

I ran the entire series in a region who's closest location to my home was 3 hours away a few years back.

The closest event for me this year is 2 hrs away, on average I travel 2-3 hrs oneway every couple of weekends to feed this habit.

Kids do drugs... its cheaper than racing.

in 1995-1996 I was racing Karts and Autocrossing.... Friday would be the "get everything ready day" and I would load the CRX, and the Kart stuff. Saturday I would race Karts all day, sometimes ending up as late as 1am, go home, sleep for 3 hours, then go drive 2-3 hours into NC to run autocrosses...

I have run autocrosses 6 hours apart on weekends in the last year....

Insane? Depends who you ask. Its kinda like practicality. Its all about what your purpose is.

Wait until you run national level events. We used to drive 10-17 hours straight through get a couple hours sleep race for two days and at the end load up and drive straight through home.

I think the worst I ever did was in '03.

I had to rearrange my work schedule on a Saturday to get to race 2 days.

Saturday: Work 6 AM-noon. Leave work for Columbus, OH (2.5 hrs away) to go to indoor karting track to practice for Red Bull competition in 2 weeks. Practice at kart track from 12-5. Drive home 2.5 hrs, go back to work from 7:30-midnight. Go home, get back up at 6 and pack up for autocross that morning. The auto-x was only 45 minutes away though.

So I guess mine wasn't that bad, but I was a bit worn out after that weekend.

That's not too bad really. My friend and I towed our H4 cars 20 hours each way just to run 1 day of HPDE at Laguna Seca. It was worth every minute.

How did you run on saturday? I managed to pull out a 47.002 with the tires getting greasy and me about ready to pass out from lack of sleep. I was in the black Accent.

And your not crazy. Hell, I'll be driving 10 hours each way to get to the Toledo tour (fortunately I get to stay there all weekend at least), 2.5hours isnt that bad.

I had the big off on my last run, on my count I hit 7 cones but they gave me a DNF (less embarassing).

I took it easy, I had a air leak on my back tire and it had a bad bubble. I figured I would drive easy instead of pushing my luck and getting a puncture. I ended up 6th out of 8 in HS.

Are you going to the other events? I am probably going to miss June but I'll be there for the other ones. Gimme a yell... I am the guy with the gold 94 Accord.
