Tensioner Question
alright when i am driving around especially at high RPM i hear a rattling noise in the engine bay, i know its not anything really lose but i think it could be something to do with the timing belt area.
i already think my timing belt is a little lose, could this be a Tensioner problem, and if so what can i do to fix it. do i have to replace the tensioner, or does it have something to do with that tensioner bolt, which i have tightened.
someone please help, i really dont feel like rebuilding cause of the timng belt falling off or sumthing.
thanks

look up the manual tensioner conversion. the auto tensioners commonly fail (one died on me, luckily the engine survived unharmed), so I would go easy on the car until you get it fixed.
have you ever take down apart those bolt (14mm i think) that holds the balancer belt tensioner and auto tensioner belt before, if so maybe something is wrong there..or check the auto tensioner if it's dead.
putting back the auto tensioner is a bit*h when u dont have the stopper..

read the thread on collectiveracing.net
it's a very simple process especially if you already have a helms manual

well i really dont want to change to the manual tensioner right now. if i am staying with the auto one what exactly do i change, is it the round tenioner piece or is it the automatic thing which pushes up on the tensioner????

well you don't need to change anything. the auto tensioner inflate out it's max once you take it off. You'll need a special tools to clamp it and hold down while using a flat screw on the other end by twisting it to deflate it. Think there is a bolt 8mm that you'll need to take it off and make sure you hold it upward from spilling oil out. good luck

yep, that's how to do it, but you need a bracket to hold it down while you install the belt. personally, i wouldn't trust it. the one that came on my motor was broken, so I replaced it with another auto tensioner (waste of $100). it broke 3 weeks later. did the manual conversion with junkyard parts for $20, no probs since.
