its ok if it is wet. Hydrolock is when the cai filter get submerged with quite a bit of water. like someone driving throuh a deep puddle

Yea, you won't get hydrolocked unless you seriously drown it. As long as you have a bypass valve you should be safe.

That's the ...**** I forgot the name.

But it's not a bypass valve. The bypass valve is bought separately. Check on prostreetonline's site or something to read more about them.

are u talking about the breather? there is also a vaccum line that connects to the piping of the cai too.

stock intake or aftermarket cai dont drive through a puddle. the bypass valve will work if you do infact submerse the filter. but if you are submersing the filter you chouldnt be there in the first place. i have heard of more people having the bypass valve open when not in water and sucking in dirt and ****. DONT USE A BYPASS VALVE! it can only harm your engine. it is a useless waste of money. in order for that cai to suck up water it has to have a perfect seal, in other words, completely sumbersed. now i know i am going to get flamed out the *** for this but before you do, thikn simple physics and common sense. dont drive through a river and you dont suck up water. dont drive through that river and there is no need for a potentially harmfull device.

the bypass valve thing your talking about is garbage I doubt anything like a bypass valve made out of foam costing 40+ bucks would stopped the water in which a CAI drowns in from entering the throttle body and into your intake manifold down the combustion chamber and into your cylinders... how'd I know? My friend splashed me with flood water when he saw me walking down the street and he hydrolocked his ****

Had it happen to me. I had to replace my motor. It really takes quite a bit to hydrolock, however be careful. I didn't expect it to happen when it did. I got caught in traffic in the right lane where some rain water had gotten pretty deep. Just pay attention to where you're at. CAI is not worth it to me. Short ram for me!!

my street floods like that every couple of years. It is a bitch. Stupid people think they can drive trough it and get stuck in my drive way.

It rains bad here all of the time and I only know one guy who hydrolocked his engine. He was driving through **** like that.

Rain sucks. I hit a puddle bout a foot deep last night, but no hydrolock.

are you missing the wheel well liner? if so get one. you may not hydro lock, but you want no moisture in there if possible. if not missing, my bust.

When I drive in the rain, I'll usually drive in a lower gear just to keep my RPMs up just in case water does get through my CAI, it'll hopefully shoot right out

bypass valves work...you guys areant reading or research. they choke your air flow a little just use it when it rains.

how would it shoot it out..isnt high revs mean more stronger air sucking in

Hmm...this was my solution to this...I installed a short-ram in my prelude, then removed the resonator box (where the 2nd length of tube for the CAI would go), and ran dryer-duct from there to the mouth of my bumper, but off to the side a bit. Works really well for me, gives me quite a bit more torque after I did it. And, on the upside, when you drive through puddles, it only splashes on the bottom of the intake, and that's only if you're driving highway speeds and hit a pond. But typically you're driving rather slow through ponds anyways, and water won't be moving fast enough to come all the way up into the engine bay. This way, the filter will never be completely submerged in water (unless, of course, i drive off a bridge or into the ocean lol).

ok what im worried about is my cai filter gets fully wet from the rain.. is that alright.. i put my finger on my pod and its fully wet.. that wouldnt be able to suck in the water right.

It'll be fine...your engine will still pull air through the filter, along with some water droplets. But the amount of water won't be a big deal, since it's still primarily air going into the cylinders, which is compressable. If your engine takes in more water than the volume of your cylinder with the pistion at the topmost position, then you have costly repair issues ahead....

Just get a short ram intake. IMO it is not worth the risk for an extra 2 hp especially if you worried about it.

my bypass valve has saved my *** a few times, and i live in nor cal, where it doesnt rain that much... ive gon thru a big puddle a few times on accident, puddles that i m sure would have locked my engine, and the valve works.. money well spent to save ur motor from an accident, i say, even it does choke ur airflow a lil. small price to pay

I ended up getting a CAI and Short Ram. I run the short ram in the spring/fall/winter and then the CAI in the summer. Doesn't take to long to change, and I don't have to worry.

You can get a cheap SR or a cheap CAI on eBay

def get a bypass valve, some people say it doesnt matter, and they dont need them, but they're just retarded. I think like 50 bucks is worth it to save you from thinking about hydrolocking.
