Default Bolts Stuck In Bushings!!!!!

Hey, I'm in the process of changing the inner lower control arm bushings in the back.

I have some bolts that are seized to the inner metal sleve of the bushings. I have sprayed them w/ penetrating lube, and hammered on it, but I can't get them to come loose. When I turn the bolt the whole bushing moves.

Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks
matt

I know how you feel, it sucks. The best way to do it is carefully torch/heat up the rubber to try and soften it. Otherwise, try to separate the bolt and bushing by holding them separately and turning. Good luck!

I just ran into the same problem on my 86 accord work car in the front. The bushing simply spun with bolt. There's nothing you can do other than torch the bushing out and then cut the metal sleeve with a torch, just make sure you don't cut the control arm while cutting the sleeve out. It sucked but not really since I had a lift, torch, and all new bushings to go back in!

I can't get into the inner metal sleve to hold it. Damn should I mess w/ a hack saw. I have a propane torch, but no cutin' torch.

heat hte bushing up with a torch, then cut the bushing out once its heated up.

use a dremel and chisel to remove the rest of the bushing, then replace the bushing and bolt

the best way = just get new bushings because you are prob going to kill them getting that bolt out. New bushings are cheap, but have to be pressed out and new ones pressed in. Worth it in the long run

Well if you are replaceing the bushings on the control arm you are most likely going to have to take it to a shop with a press. Even if you get the bolt out and separate the LCA, separating the bushing from the LCA itself is the hardest part.

Well I cut all the parts loose, and I cut out the old bushings. It really just sucked. I hack sawed and dremmeled everything.

They are at the shop getting pressed in now so I should have everything back together tomorrow.

Thanks for keeping me from BS'in w/ trying to save the bolt.
