Checking Vtec head oil pressure
I'm having issues hitting vtec in my motor(there is signal to the vtec solinoid and the solinoid clicks when attached to a 12 volt source). I checked the block and the oil pressure is fine there. I tried checking the oil at the front of the head where the Helms manual tells you to check. But, I don't have a meter accurate enough to read at such a low rate (7psi). So, I checked the oil pressure at the location below (stole pic from another H-T thread) does anyone know what the pressure should be there? I'm only reading 35psi tops when I rev the motor to 3500.
Any help would be appreciated.

i don't have my helms manual present , but 35 at 3500rpm is enough oil press if i remember correctly, you should go alittle higher and see what your getting for oil press at 4400 and 4500 rpm with the engine fully warmed up.
35 is kinda low, for vtec to engage it has to be 55psi or above, check your oil pan for even the slightest of a dent on the bottom, when it gets dented and blocks flow to the oil pickup it can decrease your oil pressure a lot, it happened to me
The oil pan is fine. Reving the motor to 5,500 the head still at 35lbs. Are there any ports I should look at in the head to see if there is a clog?
The VTEC switch? The BSPT fitting will go into the head, or if you want the VTEC only one there's a fitting right above the coolant neck on the front of the engine that reads only VTEC oil pressure. Have you tried running though the helm's manual checklist? Checking for signal to the solenoid, checking to see if the solenoid is getting a signal to activate, check the solenoid's ground resistance, check to see if the solenoid is working (clicking when hooked up to a 12v source), and clean the VTEC oil screen.
