Hey guys what's up.. i have a 93 prelude si, and i bought it pretty recently took it to the track one time, so I havent ragged it much, but i have noticed since i bought the car my axle sounds like ****...like when i go over a bump or turn it pops really loud, and sounds like it gonna come out...could this just be the boot? if my axle were bad what would happen?

 

CV joint. you need a new axle. eventually, it will completely break and you won't be able to drive it.

 

Get under your car and check it out, if its the cv joint get it replaced. You dont want to be driving when all of a sudden the axle pops out dangerous. When I bought my car with 126,000 miles I took it to the track a month later, broke the slave cylinder didnt at the track and drove it home. Dangerous part, wouldnt get into any gear on the highway and I was in the middle lane on I495 everyones doing 65+ on there. Undercover cop got behind me and helped, called state trooper and pushed my car to the shoulder.

 

How hard is it to do this repair...just replacing the axles? is it hard? what all will i need and how hard on a 1-10 scale is it, 10 being the hardest?

 

I would give it a 3, done it in a parking lot at the track once.
