Default Ecu Recall for 96+ itr+gsr

I heard there was a problem with the ecu on 96-98 1.8 vtechs. My cel has been coming on lately code 74. Ive done all the tune up items. I adjusted the Idle Air Control valve. Now the cel goes out and reappears every now and then. I still havent check compression but Im feeling the ecu might be suspect. Anyone hear of any recalls regarding this.

Recalls? Not to my knowledge. The OBDII ecu was reprogrammed in late 1997 though to OBD2r2.

Dave - you crack me up.....

here's my version
Mitsubipoo poohumbdown: Nissan = Honda =

why don't you just sell the teg and daily drive your Starquest? hahaha
my roomate daily drives one...well he kinda daily drives and daily fixes it...
lately he's been spending more time fixing it then driving it. You may have seen him post on the StarQuest boards - his handle is DStar26T....
I *AM* selling the integra, and I will be (and was for MONTHS) daily driving the Quest. Guess how many times it left me stranded (before I broke the crank pulley that is! lol). And if the Quest does break down, the Nissan will be running $1400 worth of two cars which I enjoy driving more than the teg.

There's one bulletin in general that covers most all Acura vehicles from 1996-1998.. it's an emissions related campaign and depending on what info the tech picks out with the PGM tester, an array of parts can be replaced including plugwires, plugs, distributor, catalytic converter, intake manifold gasket, etc.

If you're under warranty, bring it in and your dealer should know what this bulletin is all about. I'll try and dig up the bulletin numbe for reference when I get time.

So if your Not under warranty you still have to pay for a manufactures defect. The car is 98 but it shouldnt matter correct?

well...$1400 is pretty hard to argue with - I hope you have more luck than my roomate.
Actually, my 88 Quest (79k miles on it now) was $900.. my 1993 sentra se-r was
$500. So 1400 total for both

The Sentra is going to become a track *****, MAYBE scca its car, the Quest will be the daily driver.. might buy a $500ish dollar Volvo or something too just for the hell of it.. (mmm nitrous in a old volvo.. lol)
