lately i have been problems with my car. its a 95 integra gsr, whenever i give it full throttle sometimes it will go up to 6k and just stop and feel like its not sparking right or just bouncing off a rev limiter. well last night i was racing a car and at full throttle it did that at 6k and all of a sudden the car just made a huge pop sound and shut off. the guy that i was racing also said it threw a flame. i pulled over and examined the motor and didnt see or smell anything. checked my oil and it was good, just had gotten my car back from puttin on a new headgasket (but this problem has been an issue before the gasket change). i try starting the car and it would just turn over and smoke out the muffler. so im thinking it might be my ecu im running hondata and the light was staying red so i knew it wasnt that. i just happenned to have an extra hondata ecu with me and plugged it in, but wasnt the problem. turned the key and fuel pump was still working, now im thinking its gotta be something in the dizzy or the dizzy itself. so i sit for about an hour waiting for a tow truck and i decide to try and start it to see if i was gettin oil pressure and as soon as it cranks it starts right up. my coil has gone out before and i dont know if it just went out again? anyone know the hell is going on? thanks in advance

 

I dunno about all the **** about not being able to rev over 6k and stuff..but I remember when my dizzy went out, I was in hella-make-believe-third gear- LS-vtec and my car backfired REALLY loud and before I knew it, the burning remains of my catalytic converter were being shot out my exhuast, along with a huge flame. It was really cool, until I had to walk 3 miles to a 24 hour Autozone, only to find out that I didnt have enough money to get a coil pack,rotor, and button. Bleh....bad night.

 

only every once and awhile it will start to cut out at 6k not all the time but **** lastnight it scared the **** out of me i thought i spun a rod bearing or something. i got forged internals along with a sleeved block. think it might just be the coil or the whole dizzy?

Hrm, sounds like you are going into limp mode for some reason..I dont know for sure, but sometimes when you throw a code, the car goes into limp, and if your dizzy is bad, it throws CEL 15, aka ignition. Im not an expert though...just stating through past experience of my friends and myself.
