2005 civic - amp on stock head-unit and stock speakers
Hi,
I am really broke after buying my new car and I am looking to upgrade the sound a little bit. I have the EX with the tweaters on the doors.
I was wondering if it makes sense to put an amp with the stock head unit and the stock speakers, it seems like the speakers are pretty okay but just need a lil more kick to em. I want to keep the stock HU because of theft in my neighborhood, I dont want to have to get an alarm and i dont want to have to think about ppl breakin into my car to get my aftermarket headunit.
thanks a bunch in advanced for the advice!

amp on the stock speakers is a bad idea. they arent capable of handling much power. if you can get some subs with that amp i can get it workin for you with stock HU

-Rody</TD></TR></TABLE> Get a sub amp, with speaker input, [hi level] and a sub, it will help a lot. Getting more power to the stock speakers will make them sound a lot better, but driving the amp off the stock HU, [unless modifide with pre amp outputs] will not sound good at all.

As stated before the speakers aren't capable of handeling much. I would replace the factory speakers first with quality replacements. If you want to increase the low end then get a amp and a sub. You'll need a line out converter, amp kit, amp, sub, and box. It's cheaper to do the speakers.....

You are right about adding an amp to stock speakers runnin off a stock HU not a good idia.
roddy084 even though you don't want to replace your stock HU, doing so will make a bigger diff. in SQ then then adding an amp to the stock speakers, [SQ may even suffer by doing so] a huge improvment will be made if you install an amp and sub, [hard to get any bass out of a 7watt HU and 4xOEM speakers] but it will be cheaper to replace the HU then it will be to add the sub
