Default What are my chances of finding....

What are my chances of finding a wrecked 99-00 SI in a junkyard and how much do you think they will charge for the motor if i was to find one? The reason I am asking is cuz i just got my first civic and i cant stand the motor thats in there right now, and i want a cheap way out for a b16.

Yes, please explain what is wrong with the b16. It seems you might be a b18 snot, judging by your screen name.

i havent seen a b16 do anything fast I was beating civic si with my 95 ex when it still had a single cam with header and exhaust. (15.4 quarter mile)every thing else stock. B16 has no torque. Now i have b18c in my hatch and b18c1 in my coupe. The difference between b18 and b16 is night and day. B16 is alright but save your money and go ahead and get a b18c or a b18a or b18b bottom end.

Your better off getting a motor online, then at a junk yard. Also why not just boost the Single. and beat b16's all day?

The chances of finding one are good. Expect to pay anywhere from $2500+ for a full swap.

The chances of finding one at a salvage yard that doesn't know what it is worth? Very slim indeed. It seems like every salvage yard, no matter how backwoods it is, knows the value of vtec swaps.

Chances of finding one at a junkyard? really slim.

For a 1.6L the B16 is quite an impressive motor. Although there is no replacement for displacement

I don't think he meant that there was something wrong with b16's, I just think he was comparing it to a b18.

not to make it a b16 vs. b18 thread, but lets face it, theres no replacement for displacement if both motors have vtec.

to each his own, get a b16 if you want it, some junkyards around here have a few b16's b18b's and occasianally a b18c or two. Try and find a blown motor (no damage to block or head tho) and build it, you'll be glad you fixed it up before you dropped it in.
