b18c5 head on b16a block???
i was looking over my Honda tuning magazine and i came across an article with a 92 civic hatch with a b16a2 blcok integra type r head, aem intake fuel rail fuel pressure regulator , dc sports header ITR intake mani rc 270cc injectors ITR tranny and some other ****. this is in aprils issue
My question is how much better is this type of combination say without all the extra mods he had but just a ITR head on a b16a block and exhaust header and intake?
I really would like to know because if u all have good things to say about this setup this may be the route i take by june. Please tell me all the possible consequences good or bad
thanks

what the hell?!?!
the itr header has better porting than the b16a..its not as wild as if u were gonna go race port it but its definitely gonna make power gains..plus its got honda engineering so u know its good ****..

itr head is the same **** as a b16, with some port work, i really hope you knew that. other than that you benefit from better valves and stronger valve springs.
doesnt anyone search and make conclusions on their own anymore?

if its worth it is up to you...i really wouldnt expect that big of a gain...its a cool idea but you can definetely get more power by just building your b16 head

I had a 2001 ITR head just laying around and we put it on my brothers JDM B16 and it pulls noticably harder up top after VTEC engages than the standard b16 head. I'd recommend this combo "IF" you have the had available, however if you were to go out and actually pay for a new ITR head it wouldn't be worth it because you could build up the origional b16 head better for the exact amount. In my brothers case, the lucky ****** just so happens to have a brother
that had ITR parts laying around (+ turbo kit, slicks, etc..) because he was selling his previous coupe and removed them before the sale.
anyhow, to get back on topic... YES you'll notice a difference, NO its not worth it if you were thinking about laying down nearly $2K+/- for a new ITR head. Number wise, he ran 14.7 with the previous complete b16 setup on streets, and 14.13 with the ITR head and 22" slicks.. (sorry for the not equal tire comparison.. however on average slicks helped roughly .4-5 of a sec with his setup.)

so technically with his old set-up on slicks ur bro woul;d have only ran like .1-.3 seconds slower than with the itr head..thats not really worth it if u ask me...for ur bro it was cuz its free..haha but not for this guy
just port your b16 head the hype r head is only barely ported on the
intake side other than that same head. valves are tiny bit lighter stiffer inner
spring and ti. retainers

I just recently swapped a b18c5 head onto my b16a2 block and you can def. notice the difference but overall in my opinion you would be better off working with what you got. Actually working with your b16 head will be cheaper and plus you will get more hp gains out of it.
cool guys i really appreciate all your help and one more question. "To port and polish the head, valve job, clean, and resurface it is about 1000". This quote is from an email i recieved from Inline pro performance. does this seem like too expensive or about average

No that sounds about right, depending on whos doing it and whats being done p&p work normally runs in the range of $600 for a basic job to in excess of $1800-2000+ for full comp. work.

just stick with the b16 head. with the extra cash u have left over. u can port and polish it and get urself better vavletrain or cams or even both if u can find a descent price.
