You can run a lower profile tire, but you increase the risk of bending the rim when hitting bumps or potholes. You also throw off the speedometer.

Huh? What do you mean?

There are lots of good tires out there, tires that come in a lot of sizes, including lower profile sizes.

Have you looked at the tests and information on websites like the Tire Rack?

What are you looking for? Dry traction, wet traction, long life, cheap, etc...

What kind of car is this for, and what's the stock tire size?

By amount of tire 15" tires show do you mean the sidewall height of the 205/50R15 size??

A 195/50R15 will also fit that rim, and will "look" slightly lower profile. The "50" in the tire size is a ratio of the sidwall height to the width of a tire. Therefore, even though both the 205 & 195 have a "50" aspect ratio, the 195/50R15 sidewall will be slightly shorter.

I'm running 195/50R15's right now and I have no complaints about bumps/potholes, ride quality, or speedo error.

Let me know if we've answered your question.
