Re: 185/50/15 (jasonscivic)
185 is the width in millimeters - 50 is the height of the tire in ratio to the width of the tire in percent. and 15 is the wheel size that the tire has to be installed on....
so... you have a 185 mm wide tire with a sidewall height of 92.5 mm

Fat fives huh? Why not go with a 205/50 or 45?

Re: 185/50/15 (Built2Spill)
i just wanted to know if the tires would be fine, because they are coming on a set of fat fives. im trading my si wheels for them and my wheels have 185/65 and are way tall especially since my car is lowered. and wanted to know if they would be better than the ones i currently have.

No it means the the tires are not as wide. The surface that touches the ground.
For example... 205-50-15
The second number is for the sidewall. Not the first

well yeah kinda sorta. The second number is a % of the first number. So a 185-50 will have a shorter sidewall than say a 205-50 will. Each is 50% of the width. so....
185 mm wide
50% = 92.5 mm sidewall
205 mm wide
50% = 102.5 mm sidewall
add it all up and:
the 185-50/15 = 22.28" tall
the 205-50/15 = 23.07" tall
so the equivelent of a 185-50/15 in a 205 width would be 205-45/15 (both around 22.28")
