Default Alarm horn issue

I have a Compustar 2W900FM alarm on my car and it's been functioning great until yesterday; the horn sounds like it's been muffled! When I unlocked my car yesterday morning, it was fine (2 loud beeps), but after I reached my destination and locked my car, the beep was practically silent. I put it on Panic and the alarm itself sounds very weak. I don't know what's happened to it. One possible scenario is that I drove through a very huge puddle while I was on the highway, could water have caused this damage? Will this repair itself after the rain dries?

Check for exposed wiring or a bad ground.

It's mounted sideways. Could it still be a water issue?

I'd also have to go with, "check wiring and grounds" 94

They replaced it for free. They just said that it was a defective siren. Thanks for your inputs though.
