Default That Smell

I have a 95 accord ex 4dr 5 speed. I have just started using the a/c for the first time since the winter about a week or so ago, and I just started using it heavily for the first time a few days ago. So a couple of days ago we had our first real thunderstorm of the season(i don't know if this has anything to do with it or not) and the next morning it was very humid. When i got in my car to go to school i noticed that when i turned on the outside air vent it smelled like dead fish, or mildew, or something of that nature. I searched and found 351 posts, but i couldn't find anything that fit my situation exactly. Is it hard to clean out the air vents? I know very little about a/c and air systems in cars. Can shops do this for me if it is the problem ? any help is greatly appreciated

quick solution but not a permanent 1 get a can or 2 of fridy fresh and spray it inside your vents , close vents for a while than use as normal

A good fix, remove the evaporator and clean it with soap and water and spray evap + cases + foam insulation with fridgy fresh ,,this job requires to evac and recharge a/c system

Make sure you use your AC on fresh air and not recirculate and the smell will go away/not come back.

if itsa mildew smell, they you have to kill the funky stuff thats growing inside the vents. if you really want to get serious, heres what you do:

1 put a can of amonia or beach inside the car.
2 turn on the heat or AC, and make sure it is on recirculate
3 close windows.
4 leave it on for about 10 minutes

DO NOT SIT IN THE CAR WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING, YOU WILL DIE.

the fume will linger so after you take the can out of the car, roll the windows down and let it air out for a while. i take no responsibility for people inhaling fumes, but a garantee theres no more mildew.

Febreze works well when sprayed into the cowl with the fan on in fresh air mode.
