help: JDM H22a into 92 Accord EX with auto tranny but no spark
Hi guys, after two days searching I have to open this new thread, hope anyone can help me. here it is:
It is a 92 Accord EX with auto tranny. I got a 92 JDM H22a w/LSD . The harness is based on old 92 Accord OBD1. P13 ECU with old accord TCU. Accord injector with H22a fuel rail, customized power steering pipe. BUT NO SPARK! I've tested one by one, got fuel but no spark at all. Asked the guy who selled me the engine, he gave me another dizzy. Still no spark.
I have a external coil and the one on H22a is a internal one. I've jumped the ylw and black/ylw togather as your guys suggest. Anything wrong or I missed? pls help.
one more thing, anybody know can I use a Accord TCU with P13 on my H22a? Or I should get a JDM TCU with ECU togather? Anybody know the model number of these two TCU?
Any helps will let me in your GREAT debt...

The way you wrote this is very hard to follow.
So you bought a JDM H22 with an LSD manual tranny. You swapped only the longblock in so that you can use your Accord tranny?? You should be using the JDM H22 distributor. It should plug right up. USDM Accord have internal coil distributors so using the JDM distributor should be fine.
Why are you running the accord injectors?
Did you run wires for the knock sensor?
If I were you, and you wanted to keep the car auto tranny, I would get a JDM H22 auto tranny and a JDM H22 auto P-13 ECU too.

It is a JDM H22 with auto tranny. Sorry for typing mistake, I am using H22 injector with Accord fuel rail. And my USDM F22 has an external dizzy, but JDM H22 has an internal one. Yes, I did the wiring for knock sensor.

Oh, I didn't know the 90-93 Accords had external dizzy's.
I know the 94-97 Accords had internal coil dizzy's. Don't the 94-97 Accords share the same F22 motor?? If not, you can buy a 92-96 Prelude H23 or H22 dizzy if that is the case.
Also, why are you using the Accord fuel rail?? The JDM fuel rail should work fine on the Accords.

Yes, you are right that some of Accords have internal coil as well.
I did change to another coil and the story was at the first time I put my second try dizzy in and tested the spark plug outside cyls I did have the sparks(I used a spare spark plug then). While I was too eager to put it into and tried to start(by using the plugs came with the engine), of course it failed. Since then, even I pulled it out and had the first test again, failed too. My guess is that one of my spark plugs is shorted and screw up whatever dizzy it connect with in everytime! Is it a good bet? BTW, I did checked those spark plugs, they look good. No cover, no bent at all. Is it possible that it could be shorted inside?
The reason I am using Accord fuel rail is because that I don't want to change the fuel feedin line, the rail on H22a has the different fuel feedin connector position.
Anybody has any ideas? TIA.

WTF are talking about!
everything would have prett much been a plug up deal with the extention of a few wires and running vtec. if you using the same tranny then the TSU has nothing to do with it.. even if you swapped in another auto tranny. All the 4th and 5th gen accords had internal coils so it should work with the JDM internal coil. I am not understanding all this coil swapping stuff. Try to be a little more specific so that we can help.

Thanks, jdmlude_dude.
Glad to hear that TSU issue is OK with stay with it's company tranny.
For sure, I am trying my best to be more specific and though it is rare, but it is true that my 92 Accord EX come with external coil. If you have interesting, I could upload you the picture. :-)

that is crazy that it has an external coil!! the best thing you could do then to make it easy is to just get an h23 dizzy...it has an external coil and will hook right up or if you really felt up to it( and it would probably be much cheaper) just get an automatic, internal coil wiring harness off of another accord.

All F22 motors I know of including the Accords and Preludes use an external coil.
I also used the yellow/black splice to eliminate the internal coil in the JDM H22 dizzy.
My car ran great for about 3k miles but now I have no spark either. I am going to prolly end up swapping in a MSD coil and MSD modified cap onto a new USDM H22 Dizzy.
Problem is I dont have the cash for the parts now and would really like to know if there is anything I can do to prevent from haveing to buy all this stuff.
So if anyone has any advise please let us in.
Thanks

Sounds like maybe the ICM inside the distributor is causing your issues. These are known to be flaky with surges, and an overgapped plug will put enough load to cause issues. I would check that ICM out and try swapping in a new one, check your resistance on your plug wires, and put in a new set of plugs.
