Default UKDM cluster problem / question

I just installed the 9500rpm tach and 150mph speedo into my SI cluster housing..

Everything works but it seems like my speedometer is reading about 10mph too high.

Anyone else have this problem or know if a fix?

TIA

so far it's nice, kinda odd getting use to the tach needle's location at RPMs.

It should straighten itself out when it flips to 101,000

Yeah, thats what I was thinking too. on my old cluster it gets all cockeyed when it's getting ready to roll over.

Anymore suggestions on my MPH problem?

i guess, it just looks like it is too early to get cockeyed like that...look it the fuel mileage counter...see how the 6 isnt even moved yet and its on 8/10 of a mile...

Yes, I did notice that too. I think I need to drive and find the police "your speed" radar station.

I'm not worried about speeding or getting caught doing it, I just like my stuff to work 100% correctly.

If it's off by exactly the same amount at every speed then you can just carefully pry the speedo needle off and re-install it at the correct position.

If it becomes further off the faster you go then it's a gearing issue. are you sure your old speedo was dead on? are you running factory size wheels/tires?

I can't reinstall it 15mph lower because it sits at zero at a stop (though, when coming to a stop the needle drops very slowly down to zero). My old one was within 1 mph as checked by the police radar boxes on the road sides. ls/gsr wheels with 195/50 tires (a lottle worn down) but certainly not enough to thow it off that much. Also. it's reading on the trip reset correctly. 1 mile is one mile..so it's mechanically counting correctly, but the electric part of it is not working properly.

that sounds like it's binding/rubbing on something. you could take it apart and see if you can figure out what it's rubbing on.

I'll try that.. the only reason that doesn't make sense is that if it was binding it should keep it from reading high and read lower than actual instead.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Well.. just incase anyone cares...

I just cracked this thing open and someone has definitely been ******* around with the odometer

one of the "teeth" that holes the numbers in place was bent and a washer has obviously been tampered with to roll it back.

Hopefully putting everything back in place will solve the problem.
