Input Shaft Bearing Questions
Well a lot of people are wondering on how to check for input shaft "free" play. I just need to know how you test for a bad input shaft bearing, without actually pulling your tranny apart. Mine is down, but I really don't have the time to open it up and take a look. Also, what is the average milage when a input shaft bearing goes bad? If people could post what there milage was when it started going bad I think it would help other people with when they can expect it to go bad, as this is a very common problem. Anybody's help would be greatly appreciated

I've seen them go bad with less than 10,000 miles on them. I've seen others go more than 500,000 miles without any problems.

its not really possible to give an exact answer to this question, depends on how the tranny was treated and maintence done on it, they can go out fast. Just like stated above ^^^ chances are if u push inyour clutch and u hear the noise stop, chances are your input shaft bearing is noisy, and needs to be replaced. just take it apart and have it done now while the tranny is off. inless u want to take it apart later...
