Default Yet another header post :-)

I'm looking into getting the best header I can for under 350-400 dollars. I'm leaning towards the DC JDM 4-1 given the numbers from the great header test. I'm wondering which is better, the ceramic or the stainless? Which weighs more and are there any performance differances? Which was used in the Header test, anyone know? Anybody know of a good place to buy them if these are indeed the best for the money?

Thanks
john

A stainless version of the DC JDM header was used in the header test.

It's funny that you should ask about ground clearance since I'm working on drawings right now to try a maximize clearance on an ITR header for another H-T member right now, but he needs to keep the ITR tranny/block support bracket. My current ITR header has one tube that hngs lower than the ITR JDM 4-1 but the other 3 are tucked up close to the oil pan. Now if you are willing to do away with the aluminum bracket and get a GSR flywheel cover, I can build you the GSR style header to be very close to being equal to the low spot on the oil pan, it just depends how much stuff (brackets, etc.) you want to keep down there.

If you want to keep the bracket I can still build the GSR style header (4 flat tubes) and when used with my spec'd Moroso pan there will be more ground clearance. But I'm not sure if you want to spend the extra $ on that pan and the required pick up.

Delivery time is running about 2-3 months right now.

how much farther does that one piece dip down compared to a jdm 4-1...bc my jdm 4-1 only scrapes towards the very front of the car..and has only scraped once or twice to my knowledge and nothing big..if it only hangs like 1/4inch lower than ill just get the type R one...oh yea and how much are these headers again..im me if you don't want to post that

Well I very well can't have my nice new header scraping on track curbing now can I?

Warren, who will finally have a non-stock exhaust

why is it a concern regarding that flywheel cover? pull it off or put a scrap piece of tin in its place bent upright

For under $350, the JDM DC 4-1 would be your best choice. But just make sure your car isn't lower too much, because you will bottom out and dent it in no time.

save the extra $200 and get a header you'll still admit you own in a few months.

That thicker cover is an engine block stiffener that helps the block stay straight at high rpm.

I wonder if this is an advice to the fellow forum members or plain advertisement.

Is any of the "TypeONE" stuff you sell actually make in Japan by the real TypeONE company? or do you just make your stuff in Taiwan/Hong Kong and put the TypeONE name on it? just curious

NAB20C5, The Honda Challenge folks won't lets us remove that big old aluminum bracket bracket. Not even sure if we can mod it. We can mod the oil pan but can't replace the pan with a non stock unit.

typerman1358, By removing the bracket I can have the 4 tubes no lower than the oil pan, with the 1 piece header and just a hair below with the fully adjustable version. The ITR JDM 4-1 hangs about 3/4" below the lowest point of the pan and the SPOON around 1-1/4", not sure on the DC JDM.

The GSR has 2 "L" shaped brackets with a sheet metal cover and the CRV has just a sheet metal cover no brackets (I haven't looked at the new CRVs).

I think only the Type Rs (ITR and CTR) has this engine stiffener.
BTW. My Shop Manual is an ITR only manual since there are no other Integras here in Europe.

Is there a good header that is safe to use on 1.5 inch lowered ITR?

I think the Toda header would give the best ground clearance out of all the JDM style header, since it is 4-2-1 design.
