Hi,

I was wondering just how effective the immobilizer & the chipped key are on the '05 civic. I would rather not get an alarm for it if I can avoid it.

never rely on oem anything as far as security is concerned. if it was truely a good system they would have put the alarm business...... out of business years ago. because most new cars have a chip/immobilizer of some sort.

but if you dont have any mods and never plan on doing it. then i would suggest leaving it as it is now.

but if you plan on spending 2-3 grand on after market parts then i would get an alarm aswell.

 

Ive never been a fan of oem alarms there convienent yes but lack scalability to add new functions. Motion sensors shock sensors ect.

I run an Ultrastart on my car, custom install.

 

05 immoblizer works great. Unless you have some crazy stereo install i wouldn't worry about anyone messing with the car to begin with.
