missmatching tires, what do you think?
ok i know it is not a good thing to mismatch tires but here is what i have. i am pretty much running on no cash and i thought this might be a solution to my problem. i have a set of dunlap sport 5000s 225 50 15 and two of them i discoverd are shot, they have a couple of nails in them and one has a plug in it. i have two (sorry if they are not spelled correctly) toyo proxies 195 50 15s i know they are a different speed rating but would it be safe to run the dunlaps in the back and toyos in the front, i am a medium driver on the roads. meaning i dont drive like a jackass but i like to have fun. would i be happy with the performance of this tire setup? informative comments and info are welcome. thanks guys
I think your setup would be OK, especially since all you need to do is drive those dunlops somewhere to get the nails pulled and plugged. As long as the nails arent in the sidewall, there's nothing wrong with plugging them. I've autocrossed on plugged tires and never had any problems.
Just dont go pushing the limit.

you're running 225 50 15's? i'm running those sport 5000's in 215 50 15's and its almost too big, and i'm not lowered...
i know its off topic, but what's the width and offset on your rims?
anyway, it should be fine, just don't go pushing it too hard. besides, like he said, if the nails are in the tread and not the sidewall they're pluggable.

haha yeah they are a little to big they just barley fit, i beleive they are 6.5 wide with a 38 mm offset very tight. they two with the nails also have dry rot that i couldnt see, i am not even gonna bother with them i am just going to run the big 225s in the back and the 195 in the front, if you guys say the speed rating wont matter to much. might even look kinda neat

actually i think it will look kinda neat, like a drag car, but that is just my personal opinion, what does everyone else think

and if the bigger tires are in the front, are you going to rub when you turn. i would think so.

actually i would run the bigger tires in the back because that would be the smartest thing to do. and i already ran the 225 50 15 on all 4 corners

i have my 215 50's in the front, and regular 185 60 14's in the back, because i'm poor and only have 2 good tires of each wheel size. speed rating won't matter, its not like you're going that fast. i have my wide tires in the front to help balance out some of my understeer, to give better grip in the front.
but, your tires would throw off your gearing even more than mine, so i would probably put them in the back, too.

well im poor also, thats why i suggested calling tire stores to find used 205/50s so that you would have the correct size and all 4 would be the same. i work at a tire store and i bought used tires from my boss to put on the rear. and the wheels i bought had 2 matching so i put those on the front
