What pressure do you run your Azenis on the street?
205/50 on stock wheels. I started out at about 34psi...and they kinda felt mushy like a set of snow tires. I was told to bump it up to about 38F and 36R. Its better but it still feels a bit mushy. Anyone run higher pressure on the street?
you can experiment, but 38/36 seems like it would be pretty darn uncomfortable for street driving. it's one thing on a bigger wheel but on 15 inch wheels i would run factory pressures (35/33 i think). i am assuming your 38/36 is cold, right?

Ry, what size were the tires you had before? I forgot to ask you the other day.
The feeling you're getting I'm gonna guess is not really mushy like from soft sidewalls or from deep soft tread. I'm thinking the feeling is because of the way the Azenis 215's run width wise which is almost a 215 tire labeled 205.
Higher pressures will cure any rollover although I don't think you'd experience any on the street with just 35 all around.
And mine are 36 front 34 rear on the street. I don't like running the rears higher because it makes it a bit twitchy and induces oversteer more. But remember when we talked about alignments and how a bad one or one out of spec can produce some scary **** especially at track speeds.
Their wider width Will feel heavier and slower than say the stock size. It'll be that trade off that we all speak about, ultimate grip versus, crisper turnin and or tire life.
Am I correct that I heard this is your first time on these Azenis 215's?
If you think the 205's feel funny, I invite you to drive my car with 225/45's.
This is why I run the 7" wide Koseis with the Azenis up front. Sure ain't fer looks

I wouldn't run higher. Chances are that the amount of sidewall roll you experience going 5 psi either direction is nill. I think Azenis have way more traction than I need for daily driving. Then again, I don't have to deal with New York drivers down here in 'Carolina.

That's why I stopped running them on the street. I couldn't ever figure those tires out and I would just wear them away with barely any track days/ Auto X's.
That's why I put them on 7 inch wide Kosei's.

Are these tires brand new? Remember, new tires sometimes feel mushy for the first couple hundred miles while the mold release lubricant wears off. I'm not doubting what everyone else is saying, but if the tires are new, this might be another contributing factor...
thanks for the replies.
I was running 205/50 Kumhos before these. The Azenis are used slightly but still have the little rubber nubby things on them so they are very new. I guess it could be that these are closer to 215 than 205 so thats probably the main difference, plus the deeper tread compared to my nearly bald old tires. Im gonna put a couple more psi in and see how they feel
Also Id like to mention that 5psi DOES make a big difference with these tires since someone stated that it really wouldnt make much difference.
and hey n00b, my head is not mush

this true I remember when these Azenis first came out people stated that it'll take about 500 miles of breaking in untill full effect of the rubber is felt
oh and i used to run 35 psi all around w/ the same set up 205/50/15's on OEM wheels for daily driving

It's not a function of the pressure, it's the rim width that's the problem. The factory wheels are too narrow and make the Azenis feel very sloppy. They get better as they wear (or I like to think that), but you'll need to get wider wheels to cure the problem.
That said, factory pressures are good for the street (35F/33R)

i am running 215/45/16 azenis
and i run 43 front 39 rear for street
i started at 38/35 and it felt too mushy to me
43/39 feels better they max out at 51

Different sizes, different wheels. Your comparison is not of equals.
typer_801 has the right idea and is what we are eluding to earlier above.

That's what I run.
If the shoulders are wearing too much, I'll raise pressure to wear the center of the tire out a bit more (for the street, of course).
