Default car does move when in gear?

i just replaced an axle on my car (passenger side) and now my car goes in to gear and everythign fine but it wont go anywhere, when i rev up the mph moves along with my tach. i recently repaced the axle becuase the axle got pulled out due to my car not having a cotter pin on the knuckle and the castle nut came off. (didnt know i didnt have a cotter pin). any help would be great thanks in advance.

Sounds like the axle isn't in all the way. The torque from the tranny will goto the side with the least resistance aka an axle not seated properly hence the car going no where. Since the tranny worked before you changed the axle. Id sagest that first.

pretty much, it should sit flush with the trany housing aka no gaps. you may have to ratate it a bit to get it in there right if the spines on the axel and diff are hitting. They can be a bitch sometimes, the cotter pin has been known to fight you at times as well. Thats what fought me when i replaced my tranny.

Could also be an exploded diff, same symtoms as yours. If there is a gap, tranny fluid should be leaking out. Axles will click in when seated. There is a little ring on the end of the axle, make sure its there.

I feel for you buddy!

try turning your other axle for the hell of it, it should spin freely if not theres a good posibility your diff is messed up. I doubt it tho but I dont know without looking at the tranny myself. There extremly easy to change tho once you get the tranny out along with the tranny apart.

Could still be something messed up internally. I don't really have any other suggestions for you unfortunately. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge will chime in. Good luck

wait so what happened...

Did you fix your problem.

My diff in my GSR trans is garbage, actually I found nice chunks of it when I opened the case. It still works but grinds like crazy in any gear.

I agree. I'm in honda pact and we had a student do a cv joint replacement. after driving it for 5 minutes it stopped moving. upon further inspection we found the cv joint was not installed properly and had slipped out of the differential.

That was one of if not the first suggestion.

Question tho is the axle you have good? the uv joint might be popped out or something along those lines causing it to also not move. Did you check your other axle by chance? Make sure that one is seated properly as well could be that simple.

um there are so many reasons why it can be whirling. Post your car up on safety jacks and put it in to gear and see if you can track it.
