Need good Advice, which cam? Serious RACE only, Searched
Ok heres the new project, only serious suggestions please.... I got everything straight but the cam choice... parts are coming in but need to decide on the cams a.s.a.p
Custom B16
84.7mm stroke x 85mm piston ( roughly 1.9X liter )
12.8 measured compression
Hytech Side Exit
TWM 50mm ITBS
Alaniz P + P with PORTFLOW valvetrain
Everything else is inconsequential for the most part, you name it the motor has it.
Drag ONLY dedicated racecar
Currently running custom grind skunk2/3 profiles on smaller stroke motor with around 11.6 compression putting down 195 whp 128 trq
Would like to see HP in the 220 + whp range thinking about either running
Skunk2 Stage 3's
Jun III's
Toda C's
im currently running portflow valvetrain as stated above, if this is in conflict with any of the cams listed above please say so, Ive done a lot of research but id like to make sure its ok. Any and all criticism is welcome just keep it serious. Thank you

I always see Jun 3's making awesome power on race engines and street engines...Ive heard they have a Jun 4 or something like that...
As far as valve springs go, youll have to see what pressures (installed and free) the cam manufacturer recommends, and find out which will work and what not...Have you thought about O.S. valves?
More air @ same lift can be a very good thing!
And Ti valves would be awesome too! Lighter valves = less required pressures=less friction..
84.7 crank. Thats the B17 crank right?

With that motor, you cannot beat the RM head packages. Personally, I think for your motor the M22x's would highly benefit you. They have allot of duration which will extend your powerband, and there valvetrain is hands down the best that money can buy. Tbone himself has tested every high lift camshaft under the sun up to 10k and has NEVER floated a valve....and keep in mind this is with the gen 2 springs which have less seat preasure than the gen 1's. The RM M22's are a very very high power producing camshaft....you cannot go wrong with them.
*EDIT* The M22x's are a larger camshaft than the Jun 3, and the Jun 4's are more of a road race camshaft...not a drag race cam.

the 84.7mm stroke isnt a b17 crank
thanks for your input guys.... id like to keep the valvetrain I already have if possible, the head is done.... id just like to throw the cams in and be done with it. Does anyone have experience using portflow valvetrain with rocket cams?

ok so im kind of leaning towards skunk2 stage 3 @ 12.8 compression I think this should be enough, anyone elses suggestions are welcome......... thoughts anyone?
Ive been running Portfolw retainers in my D.D. for over 3 years now...Ive inspected them about once a year and have found no wear whatsoever...
Honestly, I believe any Ti retainer is going to be good just because almost any of them will be stronger and lighter...
Ive seen a few stock retainer engines blow due to a cracked/failed retainer...
I have never heard of any Ti retainer fail...Just my experience
