Cam question?
i have a 98 GS-R. I want to do a cam but im not sure which to do. i looked at the skunk2 stage 1, 2, 3 but im not sure what to go with. i know this kid that has a civic hatch with a cam and it sounds choppy like a race car when it idles. im looking for that sound. What brand and stage would you guys reccomend for a all motor possilbly forced induction down the line car? Thanks.
what it all boils down to is what you want. and the amount you want to spend. first to get that choppy sound you would what a stage 3 but most importantly you can't just change your mind about what your going to build(all motor or FI) unless you can the money. because for an all motor car you'll use high compression, mild to wild cam, etc.. but for an FI car, you;ll need to beef up your block by lowering cr and adding stronger internals
to run skunk2 cams you will need to change your valvetrain and you will also need to bump up your compression to run cams like that unless your going to run skunk2 stage 1 cams. But with the stage 1 you will need to change your valvestrings unless your not going past your stock redline...... If your car is pretty much stock I would go with either itr/ctr cams and build up from there or maybe blox a or crower cams... With ctr cams in my old car I dyno at 172 to the wheel's with a stock block.. might not be much to some people But I was happy with that............ You can find alot of info if you search around..... good luck
