I would lift the car up a little and bend the exhaust down, or cut some of the exhaust pipe off and reweld it so that the tip sits rite behind the lip

Stick something in the rubber hangers that will drop it down the desired amount. Problem solved--cheap, easy, and effective. Worked for me when my N1 burned my rear bumper on the old Civic.

I did this exact same thing using bushings I found at work. Ghetto but it has worked for two years and no problems.

Holy mesmerizing avatar! I also had mine in for about two years before I got rid of the exhaust. Had zero problems with the seutp. I used pieces of hard teflon (secured with zip-ties), but I've read of others using PVC piping, wood , and bushings, in your case. Whatever works.

As long as its not touching you should be fine. Just bend it down a bit.

Does anybody know the minimum clearance for an exhuast? Is one finger width a good distance. I just installed my cat-back today and was wondering how far from the bumper it should be. I currently have one finger width between my exhuast and bumper. Is there a general rule of thumb distance?

A finger gap is fine. When I had a local shop do my custom exhaust when I was turbocharged, the tech only left about a pen's gap between the tip and the bumper. The two never touched, but I constantly checked on it. I had them redo it when I changed the muffler style and specifically told the guy to leave about 1/4-1/2" clearance this time around.

What about actually under the car? Right where the exhuast bends up then down over the rear control arm it is really close. I would say around 1/4in. Does the pipe really get that hot that far back from the engine? I can see the exhaust, because it slows and traps the hot gases. But the pipe is free flowing. Should I be worried about the under body heating up?

You should be okay although where it goes over the control arms seems kind of close. On all of the exhausts I had on my EJ8, the piping over the LCA had a pretty good amount of clearance. If it's been like this for awhile w/o problems, though, you probably won't have to worry too much.
