OK,

here's my prob, my downpipe unbolted itself from the turbo while heading to my final.. I couldn't get towed or driven to class so I had to tie it back up with speaker wire just so it wouldn't drag on the ground..

Well the wire got hot as hell(obviously) and it melted into the blue and white wires(I'm about 90% sure those were the colors) that run across the front of the car between headlights...

I cut the wires.. re-connected them and electric taped it..
changed the bulbs..

checked the fuses under the dash they looked ok..

I'm clueless now please help..

I've tried searching.. and haven't really come up with anything..

signals/parking lights and highbeams work.. low beams don't..

and I have the tyc headlight assembly so the highbeam and lowbeam are separated..

 

I need to know as well.

 

com'on guys i gotta drive at night tomorrow too.. 5-0 pulls me.. i'm screwed..

 

um check the bulbs?

 

they are brand new bulbs..

 

Have you checked all fuses? It might look ok, but it might not be. Change the fuse and see if it helps. I doubt it's the bulbs, if the bulbs were getting overloaded, the fuse would blow before them.

 

i will try changing the.. but i highly doubt that's the problem..

any other ideas please shoot them this way..

eh, you say you fixed them? do you have a something to check cont. in the lines? if you dont.. make sure you spliced them right. I'd recommend cutting the wires and making an extension. Splice wire from a new cut you make on the line, because the wires you connected might be messed up under the coating further than you thought, also. If you want to make sure you hooked the right wires together, just twist them up, and tape'm qucik, throw ur lights on for a sec to check.. if nothing happend dont bother splicing/sodering/shrink wrap until they do. Like he said above.. replace fuses (or atleast swap a fuse from somewhere else) and see if that works, because they might appear fine but be blown. Oh.. and are they grounded? - and have you checked the ground connection?

You could be right I only cut off about an inch past the melted part on each side.. I really do need to get a multimeter.. and I do believe they are grounded ok..

problem FIXED!.. I believe the headlights were ghetto rigged from the person who I bought the car off of.. there were 2 fuses one for high one for low on a wire coming off the battery.. so in total there are two fuses per headlight.. one under the dash and one in the engine bay?? either I'm dumb and that's how it's supposed to be or the damn car is put together all fucked up..
