I am testing waters to see who would be interested in an ITR meet in WV in August. Its a great place in the summer for the twisties, which can make the gap run look weak. There are plenty of roads to drive on, all with little to no traffic. Below is a satellite photo of some of the roads. There are 3 roads on 3 mountain ridges.



To the left is the most docile of the 3. Not so bad incline, not so bad decline, "ok" twisties. In the middle is a very fun road. Steep incline and steep decline. The twisties are not that sharp, but very fun due to the incline/decline. To the right, we have one insane mountain. At the summit, all the tree's (scarce) have branches on only 1 side. It's one of the highest points on the east coast (maybe the highest, but not sure). The sheer face down is 14+ % grade, with insane twists and turns. that aren't banked.

How about you guys organize a meet at Summit Point WV? Organized canyon runs are asking for trouble. At least if you crash your car at the track you're not going to go to jail (not to mention the ambulance is on site).

I'm dont want people to drive it like the track. I just think they would be some good roads to do a drive on for a meet. It's also very scenic, and tons of great places to snap some shots of the R's.

Sweet.. Its a really nice place to hangout, BBQ, take a drive, fish, hike, and even white water raft. I'll be going down there June 11th, to take pics of the house, the accomodations I can offer, and the local area.

But seriously Opie, this ain't THAT far from civilization! The area I live in is a resort, where most of the homes are owned by wealthy residents of DC, Baltimore and Pittsburgh.

Thats actually one of the places I was thinking of taking a drive through. Deep Creek has some fun roads, and its also a great place to relax and have a BBQ or something.

 

As long as there is fishing invloved at one point.
