How should I properly store a crank
You want to grease it up.Make sure it covers the journals completely.Spray lithium grease works good.Grease it up and bag it up well.It doesn't matter if you stand it up or lay it down,as long as it isn't going to fall over or get bumped into.

Long term storage it should not be layed down. Laying it down isnt going to automatically warp it though. I have talked with people at machine shops that have said they have had cranks warp from laying them down for long periods of time. Either way myth or not i would take any chances.

I've straightened many cranks (mostly V8 welded strokers) and it takes about 4 tons deflecting the crank about a 1/4 of an inch to get the crank to permanently move about .001".V8 cranks are peanut butter compared to a honda crank.I'm pretty sure you could clamp the snout in a vise for a hundred years and it would never deform. Not trying to be a dick but this is one of the things I've heard for many years and I wonder were it started.Even model "a" fords aren't that weak.

You must oil all the shiney surfaces or rust will form on the journals and ruin the crank. You store it up right so it will not warp. Keep it in a heavy plastic bag.
no! You want it fully lubed and coated so it won't rust. Do like everyone has told you. Grease it up good and store it in a plastic bag.
I live here in Texas and the humidity here is high, I currently have a d15 crank sitting in my laundry room and not long ago had my b16 crank in there also with no bags for two years no rust. But it wouldn't hurt to put them in one to keep the dust off, not to mention fur if you have pets. All advice here is good though
