Default new idea for crank pulley removing tool

thinking of having a local shop cut me one with his laser

it would help you remove the crank pulley while your transmission is off of the motor, either in the car still or on a stand.

it is a plate that you attatch to 2 of the flywheel bolts and put a 1/2 drive ratchet in the center. this gives leverage and stops the crank from spinning

input, comments?

Sounds like something you could make look nicer and fit better then the flywheel stops that are out there if you make it just for a single motor series. Just an fyi to anyone needing a flywheel holder for a b series, you can get one that works really well thats intended for old VW beetles from Bap Import parts. They are similar to what you are describing to make.

Just toss the flywheel back on with 2 bolts... and put a screw driver through it

Alot cheaper than something being made.

thats a damn good idea,i actually thought about that this morning, the motor im taking apart was from an automatic ,it had a driveplate instead of a flywheel i tried the screwdriver jamming method and that didnt work for ****,the driveplate holes are all bent up now.
a simple plate with 2 holes in it is a much cheaper solution, cause im not down with paying $80 for the moroso tool either go for it make 2 and sell me one for mad cheap

Here is a crank pulley holding tool that is cheaper than the Moroso unit and is nicer.

Yeah, but for the price your gonna pay for materials and the cutting, just spend 40 bucks on the one tool that holds the crank pully, you can use it when the trans is on to.

Just my 2 cents

A better way is, use an open end wrench with a close end on the other side, bolt that to the engine and have the open end hold the clutch dowl pins.

I know this sounds like a dumb question but is there any advantage to your design?

Thanks

why not just weld a 52mm nut to the end of a bar, that's all the 'honda specialty tool' is

Honestly, I know you want to hear something different but I really gave your idea a shot, I say save your money. There are already tools out there at a reasonable price to do this job.

And yes these tools hold the pully from spinning, but I would see more of a demand for this because sometimes people do timing belt jobs and the trans is still on.

Basically that tool can be used with the trans on or off, your tool has to have the trans off.

Make a piece that locks the cam gears into place and I would buy that.

Thats what I think, take it for what its worth

find a big bolt that fits that center of the pulley then grind the center out so u can get ur socket threw then weld a bar onto that nut and then u can hold the crank and put ur socket threw the center and remove the pulley bolt
