Default CTR Cluster lights.....

I have a 1996 Civic Hatch CX and, I recently bought a CTR Cluster and when i went to install the cluster everything worked fine, but the lights that light up the numbers and needles dont light up... everything else lights up fine (turn signals, parking brake, seat belt, high beams, etc...).... if anyone can help me out that would be great.... thanks in advance.... -Elson

The bulbs that light up the needles are on top of the cluster. There's two of them.

Replace all your bulbs from your stock cluster. My EG6 cluster had 3 burnt bulbs.

if one of the bulbs is burnt out would it cause the rest of the lights not to work?

no, it's not wired in series like the old XMAS trees. pull each bulb and do a visual inspection. you should see that the metal coil thingie is not broken. also see if the bulb is discolored=burnt out.

I have had countless jdm cluster in different cars..and all of them including DC,Ek and Eg have worked with the u.s dimmer switch. Its all in the switch and not in the cluster

Ah, I did not know that. Thanks for clearing that up. That makes sense then cause the cluster will illuminate only as brightly as the voltage being sent to it. Either from the dimmer or direct 12V.

My buddy had that problem, It was his dimmer switch that controls the brightness of the gauge lights. He raplaced it and it worked perfect. $5 from a junkyard.

I took my dimmer switch out all to gether so no that is not the problem. if you have changed out bulb and still nothing I personaly would get my money back hopefully if you got it off ebay you didn't give positive feedback w/o checking it first.

I have JDM EK4 gauges that don't dim, but my dimmer switch is still in and everything works fine. Did you put you stock guages back in and test the swicth? That's crazy wierd. I don't know then. If you want to sell them let me know.
