Default B20 vs B19, no VTEC

so i have an LS block. want to build it. i'm limited on funds, so should i put a block girdle and ARP bolts into the LS block and put ITR pistons and rev to 8000 or buy a CRV block, put ARP bolts in and aftermarket pistons and rev to 7500? BTW, the head casting is mostly stock w/ crower 404's no VTEC.

either way i would get a balanced crank, and some gsr bearings. but for budget reasons. go with the ls cuz with the B20 you would have to sleeve it for security.

i would think the only way to get a b19 is to stroke a b16 or a b18.

there is no B19. you could achive this by boring out your motor.

if i keep the LS, it will be bored to 82mm with 10.6:1 pistons for ITR, which won't yield that high under an LS head, but i'll mill for 11:1 or so. at 82mm it will be 1880cc, B19. 7500rpm is good b/c that way i'll feel safe about just using ARP bolts for bottom strengthening, no girdle, and i'll also allay worries about the head not flowing well, especially with more air flowing through it. but then i have money left over which could be engine money . . . come on, this car isn't that fast, so let's have some more ideas . . . anyone think 82mm is too large for stock sleeves?

Why would he have to sleeve it? A B20 is basically just a bored out B18 anyways, but its cheaper to buy a B20Z then to get your current Ls motor bored out.

^ I would recommend sleeving your block only if you were to turbo the b20. From what I've heard, the b20 has a thinner cylinder walls and would crack under extreme heat or pressure. Correct me if I'm wrong, but just what I heard.

we're only talking 7500rpm. i'm not worried about the B20's sleeves. my real question is what are some good options for not too much money and 7500rpm? boring my LS out for 1.9L and 11:1 pistons is great, but i'll still have money left over, even after ARP main studs and rod bolts for bottom end strength. what else should i do? get some minor head work done? i think that's the winner right now.

^ I agree with you. That does sound like a good idea. I would just build the b18b1 and keep alll those thoughts you have there. What's great is that you'll still have money lefted over.
