i hear Aem is the leader in CAI....are they really?
what are the price ranges?
any "tune up" or prepping i should do to the motor prior to installing a CAI?
(the car is not excactly in pristine condition)
please post links of websites of shops in the southern california area where i could shop for CAI's

Yeah AEM does a fine job at making CAI's. Nothing else you need to do, just bolt it on.

EDIT: Depends on the model for the price. Just shop around at websites.

I think hes asking for some help in finding them..

I get a lot of parts from Inline Four, even though a lot of people think they're expensive..picked up a short ram for 90$ They have CAI for a decent price

maybe title a little misleading, i just need some info before getting a cai , im not actually buying one right now...so no doesnt belong in classifieds, but nobody knows if of any tune ups u gotta do to your motor for best results prior to installing a cold air?

 

generic one works just as good... AEM, the price for the brand

I've got that cool *** front mount intercooler style intake that areospeed makes, sells in JC Whitney for 220.00, I'll let it go for $165 shipped.

they do have some r & d in their products, and it shows in the 1/2 - 1 hp you gain over the generic ones. i think the price should be the deciding factor. an aem short ram for $90 is worth it IMO, but a CAI or the V2 (over $200) is definitely not worth it.

 

You could buy a ebay intake & slap a K&N filter on the end of it ... Save a extra 100+ bucks and put it elsewhere in your car

 

Try good old ebay for a brand new AEM Full Cold Air Intake they have some good prices thats where I buy mine, just look around you should be able to get a very good deal shipped to you. Also if you are looking at buying the cheap intake tubes, make sure they are the ones with the bracket welded on the pipe(s) they seem to work better than making your own bracket and putting it under the clamps.

 

ebay is your friend in situations like this

search ebay for "aem civic 99-00"

for example if you have an si...

 

i would just go with the ebay ones. aem is so way overpriced for what you get.

I read on here that you should disconnect your battery before you install the intake so that the computer will reset itself so it can "learn" you have more air coming in. I don't know for certain if this is necessary, or not.

your ecu will adapt to it whether you reset it or not. if you reset it, the process just goes a little faster. that is true for all bolt ons.

 

aha! u learn so much here on HT....i thought about that ecu problem, and didnt wanna fukk with it so i left it like that....but since the car is getting more air, shouldnt it also get more fuel to balance?....should you check fuel pump and spark plugs?
