Default car wont start, and i smell gas?

tried starting my car this morning and it didnt work. i checked the oil and the water level and they are fine. it turns over but wont start. i tried push starting it and it feels like its at a low rpm, i give it gas and nothing happens, puch the clutch in and it dies. i can smell the gas, what could be causing these symptoms?

How's your timing? My friend's hatch didn't start for the life of it, then I realized the bolts holding the distributor in place were loose and the distributor was advanced fully. Moved it back a little, toward the halfway point, and it started right up. In all the time, all you can smell was gas.

Sounds like possibly no spark.

? Bad ignitor, bad coil bad ECU?

If you cant gaurantee it is getting gas then check main relay.

Try the fuel injectors, make sure the fuel filter is clean, and your timing. All else fails take it to a certified Honda dealership, kick out $45 and have them tell you.

Cluless on what's going on? But I do know that there is no power coming from msd, which means no spark right? Msd was in the car when I bought it, so what do I do to make it work. Anyway to run without the msd? Where whoud it be connected to? Seems like its not even spliced anywhere, its like it came like that haha

Pull each spark plug wire individually 1 to 4, hold it right above the plug (just enough to see a spark), get a friend to crank, move to the next plug wire and do the same. Atleast then you'll know if there's a spark.

Oooop, just read what you posted sorry.

there are 3 things that cause an engine to start: fuel, ignition, and timing. SInce its not fuel, work from there.

Correction: you need these 3 things to start and engine. Fuel, Spark, and Compression.

i had the same problem with my car. I went through spark plugs, wires, a new cap and found out that it was the ignition coil. Try taking off the distributor cap and rotor and check the wire from the ignition coil to see if they are hot.

So if its the coil, what do I need to change it? Any recomendations on where to get the part? I don't think its the dizzy cuz its getting power, and I changed the cap n rotor about two years ago.

I could hear it prime or whatever its called, when I put the key to the on position. Could there still be a problem with the fuel pump? N how much to buy the part n how hard is is to change? Thanks for help, I'm just stuck on what to do...

try changing the ecu out. Mine done this in the school parking lot, i couldnt get any spark and the fuel pump wasnt priming. Put the stock ecu back in and it started right up.
