4th alternator, 2 weeks
92 LS with B16. Just finished head build a month ago, and just had it tuned 1 week ago with uber and i shift at 8600.
OEM burned out after CTR pulley. Replaced with NAPA reman. 2 weeks later it does not charge at idle + bat light <3000rpms. In the middle of a trip back home, so had to have Acura Dealer do a diagnostic and labor. They said it was def alt problem. Replaced under warrantee from Napa. 3 days later, Now battery light comes on during high revs, lights brighten up. Used voltmeter and at idle its at 15V, and as the revs get higher it jumps to 18-19V and then goes back to 16V at idle. all connections seem to be great and the battery is a 1 year old die hard. No starting issues. I have a NAPA premium (all new parts) on order.
IS this alternator failure or something else??

i dont know what the problem is... its supposed to be about 14.6 V at idle, i dont know about revving it up but its charging good at idle, i know that. if the batt. puts out less when its running versus not running. the alt is shot
if it's coming from NAPA, that very well could be the problem....I went through 5, yes FIVE, starters in my old truck before I got one that worked longer than a week....
so don't write off the alt. as the problem, cuz it more than likely is.

I agree that it is likely a poor rebuild dept. that is your problem. I serviced a Legend with a Napa alternator and had to replace it 3 times before I could convince the guy to go for an OEM alternator. Haven't seen him since. On electrical stuff like that, I wouldn't go w/anything but OEM. Not to say there aren't rebuild shops that know what they're doing, they're just hard to find. Good luck.

this is so weird.. becuase all these testimonials make it sound like napa remans DONT EVEN WORK!! i can't believe that they would sell something that physically, doesn't work.
check your wire connections and add a temporary ground from the negative side of the battery to the block and see if your battery voltage goes up at idle. if so make/add a ground strap
