Car sputters in idle, hard to start, sputters when driving, backfires, WTF??!?? $5 paypal help plz
DAMNIT my civic is ****** up on me again
i was cruisin on the freeway when the car started sputtering. At 65mph in 5th gear, RPMS were around 3K, it would kinda jump to 3.2, 3.1, 3.3, just tiny sputtering. So i parked and watched a movie for 2 hrs and got back in and it was fine till i get on th efreeway again and it was ****** up
so i get off at an exit and leave it for 30 min. i try to start it and the starter turns but doesnt start till 5 seconds. after it starts the idle stuttetrs like crazy, jumpin till 2-4K at random intervals, tryin to move it and it owuld stutter and bog like crazy
can someone help please? If u help me and the problem is fixed i will paypal u $5
*update*
2 days later of the car sitting, i start it and it starts pefrectly everything is ok. i drove it perfectly around the block cuz i was scared. anyone have any idea wats wrong?

sounds like a clogged fuel filter or maybe yer pump is goin out. check those and see what happens.

5 thou huh?
order I'd go would be
plug wires (maybe look at plugs)
iacv and all that around manifold
check for codes
try buddies ecu
maybe bad gas or fuel system
I'm sure there is more to try before paying a shop

Wires, cap, rotor, plugs. I can almost guarantee the problem will go away.
And no one needs to be paypaling ****. This is a public forum and we help each other for free.

what the hell is seafoam?
what the hell is seafoam?
i seafoam every 3rd oil change, i use TB cleaner on regular basis, i recently changed plugs and wires but not the cap or rotor or fuel filter. imma check everythiun around the manifold. is the timing belt skipping a tooth a possibility? cuz i bought the car at 104K with no knowledge of who use to drive it and its at 125K rite now

I bet it's timing related. It was when it happened to me. Also, with those miles you really should get a new timing belt anyways.
I have personal experience in how bad your engine can run with only half worn out plugs ,wires, cap and rotor.
And yes it is a good idea to replace your timing belt at that mileage, I also recommend the water pump too.
I lost my water pump at 175k, luckily the timing belt just slid over it and didnt jump time, it never leaked and barely made any warning noise before it locked up.
Also check for main shaft oil leaks and replace the seal if needed.

Some of u might think im nuts, But check ur plugs, see if there is coolant gettin in there, check ur oil as well, could be a leakin head gasket, and when ur on the highway and the engine gets hot it begins to leak, therfore u loosin power, andmaking the car bog, does it stall out ? Just a suggestion.. correct me if im wrong

Start the car in the dark and open the hood. Look around your ignition wires(especially the coil wire) to see if any of them are arcing. If you have a crack in one of the wires, the car will studder badly when the wire arcs to the nearest conductive surface it can find. Very common and easy to repair. If the car is just slightly studdering, then I would look to the fuel system(filter first). If you can get the car to run properly at all, then I definitely would not be worried about anything timing related. Timing doesn't go bad and then magically fix itself.

its been about a 2 weeks now that my car has been wanting to stall and i would hear popping sounds coming out of the exhaust. just today i cleaned my injectors and the popping was still there so i just sprayed some t.b. cleaner and it helped alot. Im thinking the valves are getting real sticky. whats funny that i sprayed some and it worked but i could still hear slight misfires so i sprayed more and it the car wanted to stall again back to sqaure one so i sprayed more and it went away well sort of. wtf? what do u all recommend to clean valves w/out removing them.

if you are hearing popping noises and it is backfiring, you have unburned gas... you are running too rich.
maybe try seaform for cleaning the fuel system, i heard it works wonders.

i fixed the problem, i changed cap and rotor and car urns fine. however when changin the rotor i used too much force and i think i damaged the CYP sensor its throwin a code 9
