Audio In Port 99 Accord
I've got a 99 Accord EX with stock stereo. My MP3 player is very nice and I take it almost everywhere with me. I have a FM transmitter but im not very pleased with the sound qualities. I was wondering if there was an audio in port for the stock system. I'm waiting to put some money together to buy a nicer system but until then I could use a quick fix. Any suggestions
your factory radio might have a cd changer port. In that case you can get a cable that would trick your radio into thinking you mp3 player is a cd changer. It would be much better quality than those crappy fm transmitters.
It has a cd changer port, but the cable runs about 100 buck

Yeah, there's definately an audio input port, at least there is on my '99 stock radio.
I used it to connect an Alpine trunk mounted CD changer.

Here’s the instructions on how to install a trunk mounted CD changer into a ’99 Accord:

In late ’98 I bought an Alpine CD changer for my car and built a box to hold it, I’ll try to post a picture of it later - I like it. At that time the cost for a Honda trunk mounted CD changer plus installation kit was something like $650 or $700. I bought an Alpine branded CD changer* for ~ $350, plus another $75 for two adapters. The first adapter was to convert the CD changer from Ai-net to whatever the normal signal is, and the second adapter was to get it to fit into the back of the radio.
Those were the prices back in late ’98, now you can buy the Honda brand trunk mounted CD changer for $367 (includes mounting kit) (from http://www.handa-accessories.com ), or a trunk mounted Alpine CD changer for $209 plus shipping**:

$189 Alpine CD Changer: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-s...MS630
Or… you could just buy a new Alpine CD / MP3 head unit. The disadvantage to this is that if you live in a place where people steal radios, they’ll see it. If you have a trunk mounted CD changer, if they look in your window they’ll just see your factory tape deck.
Like I said, I’ll try to take a picture of how my CD changer looks in the trunk tonight.
* Alpine makes many of Honda’s components
** Crutchfield now charges for shipping on orders under $250 (used to be under $200) -- if you go this route you could buy some decent speakers to get you over $250 and save on shipping…

But if you are used to your MP3 player, consider just putting in a MP3 playing head unit.
