Default Cracked Ringland? Replace piston and rings ONLY??!

need your thoughts and opinions.

I don't really have the money or time to rebuild.

I was thinking about just throwing in a used piston and some new rings with out doing anything else to the motor.

I think #3 has cracked rings because the car is smoking blue, and #3 plug is black while all the others are fine. Haven't done a compression test but i can guess the results... no smoke from breather, car runs great just smokes... mostly when i let of after boosting then get back on the gas. Also smokes when i rev it at idle.

It's that or i'm maxing out the credit cards to buy a built block. what do you think?

So can i just throw in a piston w/ new rings and call it a day?

this would just be untill i can afford to build it

Try and find a set of SRP's, we got a set localy for 250 bucks brand new with rings. It's some cheap insurance. Your way could probably work, but I'd re-ring and hone the whole motor.

Honestly if you are gonna go through all of that you might as well get some eagle rods too and have a pretty much fully built bottom end. Also did you check the sleeves to see if they need to be machined?
