Default Corrado Rotors for Hype-R front brakes on an EG DO NOT WORK.

Just an FYI for everyone... I know it comes up in just about every thread on the subject and I was curious...

I was going to order a set with the intention of returning them if they didn't fit but then I stumbled onto brembo's site and found they have a "spec search" where you can fill in whatever requirements you have for the rotor and see if they produce one that matches...

http://www.brembo.com/ENG/Mark...s.htm

I searched by the Overall Diameter of the preludes 282mm (11.1") and the center hole diameter 64.2mm (to make sure the rotor is hubcentric) and the stock civic rotor offset 44.6mm.

Nothing came up besides the prelude and the legend rotors...

So then I searched for the corrado rotors...

A. They're 280 instead of 282... no big deal but still I'll take anything I can get
B. They are NOT hubcentric (they all have a 65mm centering hole instead of the honda's 64.2)
C. They're rotor offset is WAY WAY WAY lower... it's 39.2 instead of 44.6mm

The preludes rotor offset is HIGHER than the civic rotors... so if it's needs spacing to fit the rotor between the lude caliper then I'd imagine it would be next to impossible to get the corrado rotor in there...

Also the corrado's min/max width is lower so you risk over-extending the caliper piston if you've cut the rotors once and you're on thin pads. Probobly won't happen but it's not a risk I'm interested in.

NOW...

I've heard that the different mounting brakets from honda denote their offset.. So I'm thinking that there is a combo of bracket and caliper that would eliminate the need for spacing the prelude rotor... but I'll actually have to order those parts to find out for sure... I may or may not do this as returning parts to a dealer is a P.I.T.A for my buddies shop and it makes them look bad so who knows...

So it looks like we're stuck to using the prelude rotors... Also brembo indicates it has a 4x114 rotor that is the same dimensions as the 5lug one... so that would certainly making redrilling the 4x100 bolt pattern easier than if it were done to the 5 lug rotor.

Also another little tid-bit is everywhere I read that you NEED the ex/si with abs in order to make this work...

I have a 93 ex with NO ABS and NO swapped front spindles... the calipers bolt up fine to mine... and they look like they need abotu 3-5mm of spacing...

I will be completing this project in the next couple of weeks so I'll do a FULL write up including all parts used or tested.

Also want to thank ex-"emerika" for all his posts on the subject..

When I get home I'll throw links to all the threads I've found on this swap as well as some external sites that cover the same issue...

does the lower offset (39 vs 44mm) mean that the 39mm ones are father towards the outside of the car, or towards the inside of the car?

The corrado rotors will space it out farther from the hub. This is what is needed for the rotors to fit with the calipers. Here's a link that mentions the rotor will rub the inner part of the bracket. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=734560
A solution was to use a spacer between the hub and the rotor.

Therefore the corrado rotors will fit with the addition of the hubcentric ring.
