Default SOHC VTEC? BS or true?

So everyone says I should swap engines, so now what engine? I have a 95 dx hatch, the guy I called at Nippon motors told me the only engine I can swap in is a 1.6l SOHC VTEC. I thought all VTECs were DOHC? I think I am going to play with my little 1.5 anyway going to try some headers with DTM style exhaust. Anyone tried Chikara headers? Are they anygood? thanks for the input.

don't waste your time trying to make a dx fast. If you're lucky you'll get into the 18's

I don't know what that comment is for, IMO,anything can be made to go fast, just needs a little work. And don't reply to this sayin 'you need a TON of work and all that jazz.......you just need the Right stuff done..... find your cars weakness and build it up..... and now i'll probably get stuff like," the whole engine is weak" or something to that effect...... ah well , maybe this is battle not worth fighting...

bahh any engine can be fast but for what he is going to spend to get that thing to break the 16's he can easially do a swap and get 15's.
its the easy route.

try doing a lotof research on what you can afford $$$ and then decide to go that route , you can modified the motor that you have but it would a lot easier and faster going either sohc vtec or even better dohc vtec . depending on your budget .but before you dump money in to that engine look in to the gains with going with another motor .

I agree, if you're going to swap do the B16 and skip the SOHC, I'm satisfied with my SOHC Vtec for now, but someday I'll be craving the "DOHC Side"

ey if I agree the stock DX can be made fast, but it is gonna be expnsive as poo poo, so what I would suggest is droping in pretty much any B series engine you can afford, but first you are obviously new, and so you are gonna need someone to do all or most of the work, so my suggestion is decide what you can afford, decide what your goal is and then if you still really want to drop a new engine in, that guy that you talked to is full of poo poo though, you will be able to fit pretty much any B series engine you want in w/ the right mount kit, you can even fit the H22 from the prelude VTEC in but that means kissing your A/C, power steering, etc. goodbye. Hope I helped you some and didn't just confuse you more. OUT!

yep, this DX never made it in to the 18's, nor 17's. Started out at 16.44 BONE STOCK and ended up at 15.08 with just easy-bolt ons.

Never doubt a 1.5L in the hands of someone who can TUNE!

Tuning is a lost art in here.
