i have a ls swapped crx and the ls has been in there for about 6 months now, and just the other day my idle started going up and down while warming up... the same way it does when the coolant is low. but any-who my check engine light didn't come on but i checked the ecu anyway and I'm throwing code 17 as well but i don't think the speed sensor would affect idle? what do you guys think, yes the coolant is ful and bled properly. tia
As far as I know, code 17 has to do with the vehicle speed sensor. (one of the codes I have) My idle is fine 750 rpm. So no, the code 17 does not affect idle. Code 17 is a pretty easy fix.

As far as the idle, I would check for vacuum leaks. Basically, take off your intake piping. Turn on the motor, put your hand over the exposed throttle body (it will bite a bit, but not much). If if the motor turns off when your hand is on the throttle body preventing air flow, then you have no vacuum leaks. And obviously, if the motor does not turn off when you have your hand on the throttle body body, then you have a vacuum leak. Also, check your tps voltage at idle and possibly adjust your idle screw. that is what i thought... but the weird thing is that the idle and the code 17 started at the same time... it just started last week so i don't think that the tps moved.
with a vacuum leak the idle would always bounce around.... but it only does it when it is warming up.
bump for an answer

My idle does, well, did that, also. I wired up a resistor between the wires on the IACV and now my idle is steady at 650rpm.
My VSS is throwing a code also, but my speedometer still works, so I'm not concerned about it.

as far as speed sensor, is your speedometer accurate? as far as idle problem, you either need to clean your iac valve or replace it if its trashed, and the fast idle valve under the throttle body, you need to remove those 2 screws or bolts that hold the cover plate on and screw in the plastic valve all the way. it may be easier to remove the valve from the manifold. just becareful of the gasket
