itb's are like the last thing you would add to a modded NA car, you would only see benefits worth the cost if you had bolt ons, cams, cam gears, pistons, and also they are a pain to tune, to be honest a 7-8psi turbo setup would be cheaper than all that(depending), get you higher gains, and be more reliable

ITB's are unfortunately becoming almost a fad. People are fabricating them out of motorcycle parts and picking up a few whp and half the benefits people seem to list are "the cool sounds"

It should be the very last thing you add onto an NA application. I wouldnt even consider them without a great head, a real header, a tuneable engine management system at the minimum. You can get alot of NA power out of a good regular manifold.

I couldnt agree more... Most dont realize that motorcycle TB's with the ghetto *** manifolds that are being used and rubber couplings flow like dimpled ***...

Who cares if they dont make power, flow worse than most single TB manifolds, dont ever run right and suck to tune...

Yup there are threads floating around in the all motor forum where people make 185whp with motocycle ITB's, thats flat out embarassing, I wouldnt even post info like that lol.

My b20 vtec on an aebs intake manifold makes 215whp, and I would never consider ITB's until I have a real deal header and bigger cams.

Im running TWM ITBs, not the motorcycle piece of junk ones.
Still waiting for me SMSP header to arrive, will dyno tune all together.

I've seen motorcycle itb's done right. The prob is that most people have no idea what it takes to build them properly. I def agree that they are a fad though. I don't know about the built bottom end, but you def need aggressive cams, valvetrane and one hell of a good header.

If you are running a JUN Head, then i would recommend going with some pistons to up the compression. If you got the full jun head+bottom end ( you must be shitting $100 bills) then MAYBE consider ITB's but dont commit to anything. A good intake manifold will smash those things, and be twice as easy to tune.

Also to the original poster, id say start looking into costs for turbo + sleeving and all other necessary ****. The list gets pretty silly after awhile.

What's better for one person isn't necessarily better for the next.

Turbo isn't an easy road, nor is NA. I've done both and now I'm back to NA for a few reasons (one was to be Cali street legal, don't think I'll ever achieve that). I think it really boils down to goals and how one likes to drive.

If you want to go fast mainly in straight lines and beat the crap out of people, go turbo. If you want a more responsive car for canyon driving or track racing, go NA. If you just need a reliable car to get from point A to B, leave your car alone.

As far as ITB's go, as people said it should be the last thing on your list of NA mods. Definitely have a tunable ECU before bolting some on. I'm beginning to consider ITB's but I'm waiting to see how some dyno results turn out an intake Manifold that I should be doing next week.

thanks alot for ur help guys
well i ahve a full turbo kit in my living room that i pieced together i only have ems to buy still
but a couple friends had tried to talk me into itb';s and i wanted to know what the better route is. i am not concerned with sdtreet racing or drag racing. i just want a very powerful responsive car for some fun when i feel like it...
but i think i am gonna finally put the turbo on
thanks guys for all your help in me making a decision

i dont know about the easier part, i think if your gunna do, do it right the first time. i dont think many ppl boost or na have a extensive set up ... so for the rest of you who have a cold air intake and cat-back exhaust that are talking out of there *** and claim they are all motor when all they have is bolt-ons i know there are a couple of ppl out there with nice na set ups (high compression pistons, built head, itb's etc...) and a couple of ppl with nice turbo set ups (precisionh23a)

H22 Block:
-89mm with Golden Eagle Sleeves
-89mm Rollerwave pistons 9.5:1
-Manley/Full Race Rods
-ARP Head Studs

Turbo Setup:
-Precision PT61
-SST
-3"DP
-Tial 44mm Wastegate
-Tial bov
-Precision A1026 fmic

1wk course at the Racing shool...

just a though...

skill matters

got money?
lookin for power?

non of those two.

just built engine with forged piston, rods and etc (I assume u know what I'm talkin about.) will do fine for daily drive. Even stock engine with minor bolt ons will do fine I guess...

If you want to maximize your braggin right~ and bit some high horsed car on light to light~ go with turbo cuz it makes easier power than ITB and makes cool sound~

Pssssssch~~ ^^;
