New mods over the weekend, PICS & VIDEO 56k :(
This past weekend was a busy one for me. I finally got done with my finals :D so I decided to install some long awaited parts that had been sitting in my apartment. I already posted this on ClubRSX.com but I just wanted to show all the honda-tech guys...
The Car:
2002 RSX-S
Current Mods:
Ghetto SRI
APEXi N1 CatBack
DYI Red Outs
JDM Replica Headlighs
8000K HID Retrofit
Tint
R Spoiler
Install list:
CAI - Injen Cold Air Intake System "Black"
RH - DC Sports Race Header "Ceramic"
Springs - Comptech Sport Springs "1 5/8 drop???"
<U><FONT COLOR="Red">CAI</FONT>:</U>
This install took only about an hour. The most time consuming part was taking off them damn clips for the bumper. Well, not really time consuming, but more, fustrating. Anyhow, the install was simple and staright forward. All my bolts for my washer bottle lined up perfectly. Everything fit nice and snug, with no rubs or hitting from the tranny.
Performance from the CAI was not really noticable, but the sound of VTEC engaging was GREAT! I had a SRI before, but being that the filter sits outside the engine bay, when you hit 5800, the engine just screams. I guess, the only really noticable power was more in the 7-8000 rpm range.
<U><FONT COLOR="Red">DCRH</FONT>:</U>
This install was a bit more difficult but not as bad as I thought. It took me about an hour and a half to put everything on. I didnt have any problems with the cat bolts. My buddy and I just muscled them out. Everything else was easy. I also installed the spark plug defouler O2 sensor thing. So far, 200 miles and no CEL
Peformance gains for the DCRH was a bit more noticable, although I was expecting more. But, butt dyno seem to feel just about right. My mid to highs pull great, especially once VTEC hits. Plus, 6th gear on the highway has a bit more pick up. The 3 downfalls I had for this install are that the top heat shield covering the underbody rattles, my header hits my underbody when I'm in reverse (I gotta get ESMM), and the rasp coming from the header because of no cat. The biggest complaint would have to be the heat shield, it's annoying. Overall, this install was great. Highly reconmended.

I was looking on CRSX about the Comptech springs, and I noticed that everyone's springs are silver in color, the springs I recieved were black. I'm not sure if it means anything, but I called them and they said it was all the same.. :dontknow: Anyhow, this install was straight foward also. After just finishing installing springs and struts on my buddy's 98 civic last weekend, the RSX suspension was like heaven. No worries about breaking rusty bolts. I opted not to use a spring compressor, even though a set was sitting in my garage. I was too lazy. LOL. Anyhow, the fronts posed a bit of a problem when I was trying to put the strut assembly back in because the axle popped out. I read about this on CRSX too so I figured out the problem and solved it pretty quick. The rears where a breeze, but the top mount nuts in the trunk compartment are a pain. Im a 5'6" 160 lbs. asian guy and I still had trouble with trying to get to them. One advice, GearWrenches kick ***.
I wasn't very pleased with the drop at all. It still looks stock, but you can tell if you are parked next to a stock RSX. Ride quality is great, feels stockish, but stiffer. The car handles great. No body roll and not bouncy. Supposely the Comptech springs were made to work with stock struts, but Im not sure. Someone correct me if Im wrong. One great thing though, no sign of bad camber, but time will tell. Anyhow, overall this install was good. If I was to do this again, I'd save money and just get TEIN SS. Thats what Im saving up for now.
Conclusion:
Cost of parts = $700
Total spent on Beer = $40
Smile on my face when I drive my "new" RSX-S = PRICELESS
Anyhow, I'll get some more pics and try to get a video up soon. Got some on my digicam, just gotta resize them and host them. But thanks for looking and comments are always welcomed.

You can also get an aftermarket O2 similator like the CAsper O2 Simulator... But so far, I've have luck with my defouler trick...

I used the Audi HID kit but I bought aftermarket bulbs to fit the H1 socket of the RSX... They are all over ebay... So far I've havent any problems with the bulb. I also did the same thing with my CRX... Some people actually retrofit the DS2 (audi) bulbs into their car... you can go to planetHID.com for info on that...
