I am about to order a set of the older azenis for my set of steelies. I plan on using them for autocross this summer.

G'luck finding them. I bought a set 2 months ago and it was very hard. They are sold out and discontinued. They have been replaced with the 615's that are $30 more expensive per tire

Why? By all accounts this is a better tire in every respect...

Because the old ones only cost $65 per tire. So thats $120 extra per set compaired to the old ones and when they only last about 15k miles... its starts to add up.

Cost. Supposedly sidewall is not as stiff, too.

We'll see how they are, but i personally wish they would have continued to make the 215's. Phenomenal tire given the price.

I have the sudden urge to perform a cost per mile comparison across multiple performance tires....

I love tire shopping... congrats on the new ones. Supposedly they're supposed to resist the heat better on the track, I haven't heard a real-life comparison between the new and old ones yet.

I'd love to hear some feedback from experienced street tire classed ITR autocrossers on the new Azenis.

The "old" Azenis were so phenomenal for the dollar.

Discontinuing the old Azenis=stupid move

Steelies are heavy yes, but I can get azenis for 47/tire in the 14'' steelie size that I have. I would love to get some for my 16'' slips but I am very short on cash right now...

-Azenis can still be bought
$47 for 195 60 14

But I cannot find the old ones in my 16'' size

I certainly hope so.

I've heard Hankook is making a tire that rivals the azenis and can come with some contingency money if you place in certain events. And they're cheaper!

Did you get those mounted already? Or are you still waiting for your Spoom's () ?
