15x 6.5 42 offset vs 15x7 40 offset wheels
On 88-91 CRX (H4/H5? HC Track Car), rim weight is close to the same
1. Any benefit of one over the other with a 205/50/15? (handling, is 1/2" going to matter, turn in, sidewall flex, point at where tire breaks loose (progressive or immediate)...)
2. Would there be rubbing issues? (inside or fenders)
3. Any experience or genuine knowledge that would be useful...(tire selection, rubbing issues, suspension, etc)

1. 205/50/15 on a 7" wide rim would give you more contact patch compared to 6.5" wide rims. which will in turn give you more grip cause more of you're tire is touching the floor.
2. rubbing would depend on how much you are lowered by.
3. i don't have a hatch so can't say about suspension stuff. but tires would depend on your budget i guess.

I run a 15x7 40mm offset with 205/50/15 Azenis on my 1990 hatch.
You will need to roll the rear fenders otherwise they will rub bigtime. With the rears rolled there are no rubbing issues.

Good to know. I figured that the fenders would probably need to be rolled...greatly appreciated

I believe in the autocross world, it's been verified that going from a 6.5 to a 7.0 inch width wheel on a 205/50/15 is worth around 1/2 second on ~40 second course. So it's a difference you'll feel and will be reflected in your times.

Interesting.....so the 1/2 is actually valuable.
